Peaches Geldof was mistaken for a transvestite she claims after she was spotted in New York wearing Boy George-style make-up.

The 21-year-old makes her comments in the latest issue of Nylon.

In her monthly column she tells how she decided to celebrate the US magazine’s beauty issue by trying out the “iconic make-up” looks of celebrities like Boy George, Twiggy, Dita Von Teese, Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Manson.

The 21-year-old says: “I thought it would be fun to try out other people’s iconic make-up looks to see the reactions I get.”

She goes on to say: “As famous for bringing drag-queen chic to the mainstream as he is for his music, Culture Club front man Boy George is an obvious first choice for me.

“I apply several layers of thick, stick-applicator foundation until it looks like my whole face has been airbrushed out.

“I follow with streaks of magenta blush and an insane amount of blue, green and silver eye shadow. To top it all off, I pencil in my brows to look thick, black and pointy.”

But Geldof says she got a bad reaction when she caught an underground train in New York.

“On the subway, a man recoils in shock, mouthing the words, ‘Oh my God’ to his equally disturbed girlfriend,” she says. “Above ground, I elicit calls of ‘tranny’ and even ‘alien’.”

The 20-year-old’s passport fell out of her bag, and a woman walking through an East London park spotted the document and went to give it in to a police station. But when she saw who it belonged to she sent Geldof a message on her Twitter page.

She said: “I spotted it was Peaches’ and I thought: ‘Why not get it back to her safe and sound myself?’ I’m sure it got there quicker via Twitter.”

A pal said to UK newspaper The Sun: “She was resigned to the fact that she would need to apply for a new passport. Then she received a Twitter message from someone telling her that they had found it – she was over the moon.”

The star, whose dad is campaigner Sir Bob Geldof, then sent a courier to pick the passport up. Her rep said: “Peaches is very grateful.”

Damages in the case were undisclosed but substantial. Geldof, 20, sued Express Newspapers over a September 2008 front page story in The Daily Star that ran under the headline “Peaches: Spend The Night With Me For 5K.”

Solicitor Jonathan Coad told London’s High Court Geldof went to the Press Complaints Commission over the story. He said Express Newspapers acknowledged the words implied Geldof provided services of a personal sexual nature for the payment of a fee.

Coad said: “The defendant refused to publish a retraction and apology on its front page but instead published it on page two. As the publication was substantially smaller, the claimant considered this to be unacceptable as it was not, in her view, adequately prominent. The Press Complaints Commission adjudicated upon the prominence and found it to be proportionate. It is for this reason that the claimant now wishes to make this statement in open court to make the falsity of this allegation a matter of public record.”

Solicitor for the newspaper, Zoe Norden, said her client accepted there was “no truth in the allegation”.

The socialite, 20, has bumped into the New Moon actor several times.

“I’m really into R-Patz,” Geldof says. “I’ve met him on numerous occasions. I was chatting to him about movies. He’s really intelligent and he has surreal taste in movie directors. People don’t see that side of him because the Twilight thing has become so big.”

But Geldof says her well-publicised crush on Phillip Schofield is still going strong.

“I’m never going to move on from Schofe,” she confides. “He always lies in my heart. I have dreams involving him which I can’t even go into.”

The socialite aimed the replica pistol at pal AJ English during a recent fashion shoot, which also included a picture in which she pointed the prop down his trousers in a provocative pose.

Anti-gun groups have blasted the 20-year-old for the “abhorrent” photos after she posted the images on her Facebook and Twitter profiles.

Vanessa Hyman, whose teenage son Anton was killed by gun violence in 2004, told a UK newspaper: “For someone like her in the public eye to have her photo taken with a gun is disgraceful. Guns are not toys. They aren’t something to be used as a prop in a fashion shoot. It’s totally disrespectful and abhorrent to all those people who’ve lost loved ones to gun crime.”

Geldof’s spokesperson has since moved to dismiss the outrage, maintaining that the gun was “a child’s plastic toy” and that the star “does not condone violence”.
