Patrick Swayze’s widow talks about living in own real-life Ghost movie Patrick Swayze’s widow Lisa Niemi has revealed she is living in her own real-life Ghost movie.

The dancer says she can still feel her famous husband’s hand in hers and his presence in their house, even though it has been four months since he passed away.

The 53-year-old, married to Swayze for 34 years before he died of pancreatic cancer, says: “Honestly, the kind of grief I experienced after Patrick was gone was literally on a cellular level. It’s something deep inside your body that you have no control over. I can still feel the contour of his hand in mine.

“Sometimes when I’m driving on the freeway, I feel like I can just look over and see him sitting beside me like he did when I would take him to his chemo treatments.

“I’d put the pedal to the metal in our car and he’d break out into this big, mischievous grin.

“And I’d reach over and grab his hand and it was wonderful.

“Even though we’d be on our way to chemo, we both savoured those moments.”

Niemi also says she feels Swayze’s presence when she stays on their New Mexico ranch.

“The moment I set foot inside the house, it was like I was seeing it with new eyes,” she says.

“I realised it was still our home and there was an unexpected comfort there for me. It felt beautiful, serene and peaceful.”

Speaking about Swayze – who played a ghost in the hit film of the same name – she says: “And I remember sitting on our porch and saying to myself: ‘See, there’s nothing to be afraid of’.

“I saw Patrick there in the most loving and positive way. And it was like he was sitting on my shoulder, saying: ‘Look at what we built together here’.”

Patrick Swayze’s wife and brother give emotional interview Patrick Swayze’s wife and brother have given an emotional US TV interview about the late actor.

Lisa Niemi and Don Swayze told Larry King Live about the day that the family found out about his illness.

Lisa said: “He was having some indigestion problems and then noticed he had some jaundice. And we immediately got him in. And everything just kind of snowballed from there. And I didn’t know a lot about pancreatic cancer at that point, but he did. And when he got that diagnosis, first thing, unfortunately, because of pancreatic cancer, he said, ‘I’m a dead man’.”

Don was with Lisa when Swayze broke the news to the family.

He said: “I was looking in my big brother’s eyes and he didn’t even flinch. I don’t know what was going through his mind, but after about 15 seconds, his eyes narrowed and he said, well, it’s time to jam. It’s time to get busy.”
