Tom Cruise signs up for Mission: Impossible IV

Read More ]"/> Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt in a fourth installment of the Mission: Impossible films, Paramount Pictures have confirmed.

The film giants have said that Cruise will also produce the film with Lost creator J.J. Abrams (pictured), but a director hasn’t been decided. Screenwriters Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec will pen the script.

Plans are afoot that this will be Cruise’s next film, with shooting muted for the summer and a release date slated for Memorial Day 2011, but the storyline is a close-guarded secret.

The Mission: Impossible franchise has grossed over $1.4billion around the world.

“Tom and J.J. are great talents and we are excited to be working with them to re-launch this legendary franchise,” said Paramount Pictures Chairman and CEO Brad Grey.
