Tim Robbins gets spot in Green Lantern

Ryan Reynolds will star as Green Lantern and Blake Lively will join as the love interest Carol Ferris.

Green Lantern’s plot tells the story of a test pilot granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers and membership in an intergalactic squadron, according to imdb.com.

Robbins will play the part of Senator Hammond in Green Lantern. Hammond is the disapproving father of villain Dr Hector Hammond to be played by Peter Sarsgaard.

Robbins is newly split from actress Susan Sarandon and has been linked in unlikely rumours to Meg Ryan.

Martin Campbell, who helmed Mel Gibson’s latest film Edge Of Darkness, will direct the Warner Bros movie scheduled to start shooting in New Orleans in March.
