Rihanna doesn’t want Chris Brown attack to ‘define’ her

Read More ]"/> Rihanna has said she doesn’t want her beating at the hands of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown to ‘define’ her.

The Umbrella star said she is determined to move on after the February attack.

And she said she went public about what happened in a bid to leave it behind her.

She said: “I wanted people to move on with me. ‘Cause the last thing they know about me is that night. And I don’t want that to be what people define me as.”

Rihanna, 21, was left bloodied and bruised after R’n'B singer Brown, 20, assaulted her in a car.

He later pleaded guilty to felony assault charges and was sentenced to five years’ probation and six months of community service.

And his ex says that she hopes her story will make clear to young women that domestic violence is not acceptable.

“I didn’t realise how much [of] an effect it had on young girls’ lives,” she says.

“Stop blaming yourself for that outcome. There’s nothing you can do, ever, to excuse a man’s behaviour like that,” she added.
