The 20-year-old had posted a message on the social networking site Twitter saying that she had received a text from a ‘friend in the industry’ saying that the Hannah Montana star had died.

However, when fans stated they had just come from one of Cyrus’s shows and she was alive and well, Geldof took down the posts.

She later apologised and tweeted: “Didn’t want to cause distress by tweeting that I’d heard that Miley had died.

“Turns out it was thankfully a rumour. Glad to hear that x.”
