Read More ]"/> Hollywood actress Natalie Portman will slay zombies in a new movie adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

The 28-year-old will be starring in as well as producing Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which is based on the book by Seth Grahame-Smith and Jane Austen.

The movie will be financed and distributed by Lionsgate. Austen’s name is on the book but Grahame-Smith added flesh-eating zombies to the story.

Portman will play the role of the heroine Elizabeth Bennet, who is distracted by her plan to get rid of a zombie by meeting Mr Darcy.

Portman will produce through her handsomecharlie company with Annette Savitch as well as Richard Kelly, Sean McKittrick and Ted Hamm.

Savitch said: “Natalie and I are long-time passionate fans of Jane Austen’s books and this is a fresh, fun and thought-provoking way to approach her work.

“The idea of zombies running rampant in 19th-century England may sound odd, but it lends a modern sense of urgency to a well-known love story.”
