Keith Urban: How much is that fuzz pedal in the window?

Read More ]"/> Keith Urban proved he has not forgotten his roots when he played Santa to a youth while back home in Australia for the holiday season.

Urban walked into a Tym Guitars shop in Fortitude Valley, Queensland with his band only to discover a lad trying to work a fuzz pedal.

Tym Guitars owner Tym Brennan said Urban was “genuinely very nice”, spending a half hour on trying out guitars and other equipment. After settling on a $1,400 Maton, Urban asked the owner in a whisper, “How much is the pedal that kid’s playing?”

When Brennan replied it was $450, Urban told him to put the pedal on his card with the guitar. When Brennan asked him, “Do you want me to tell the kid?”, Urban said, “Wait till I leave.”

“Keith pays, then on the way out, shakes the youth’s hand and says, ‘Merry Christmas,’” said Brennan.

When informed that the stranger was Urban and that he had bought him the pedal, the youth was so “blown away” he was shaking, Brennan said.
