Jerry O’Connell to star in NBC pilot Rex Is Not Your Lawyer

The 35-year-old will replace the Heroes star Sendhil Ramamurthy, who was recently cast in the role.

Lindsay Kraft and Cleo King have also been cast in the pilot, which will be directed by David Semel.

The show stars Doctor Who actor David Tennant, 38, as Rex Alexander, a top Chicago lawyer who starts suffering panic attacks and begins coaching clients to represent themselves in the courtroom.

O’Connell will take on the role of an ambitious but good-natured lawyer who stood under Rex’s shadow until Rex’s career change.

Their friendship becomes complicated when he falls in love with Rex’s fiancee (Abigail Spencer).

It is claimed Ramamurthy had to withdraw from the role because of scheduling conflicts.
