The director of the hotly awaited Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr, went through no less than four cars on the Dunsfold Park track in Surrey, UK.

A member of the audience said: “He told the show’s presenters it was a wet track and he had ended up breaking four cars over the course of the day, including destroying one of the gear boxes. It sounded like he had a few problems finding top gear, so I don’t think his time will be the fastest.”

Ritchie, who was appearing in the Star In A Reasonably Priced Car segment of the show, blamed inclement weather.
