He thinks the media scrutiny of Tiger Woods is “disappointing”. Speaking to Sydney’s Sunday Telegraph he said: “It’s disappointing. All I can say is put the shoe on the other foot.”

He was asked whether he still believed in love following the tumultuous break with his wife of only 15 months Chris Evert, which in turn followed the acrimony of his $130million divorce from his wife, Laura Andrassy.

“Do I believe in love? Oh yeah, of course, I still believe in that. I’m very much a believer. You can be positive or negative, you can get down on yourself. I’m the type of guy that always looks forward and doesn’t look back.

“You can cry over spilt milk as much as you want – what is done is done. Whether it was your decision or somebody else’s decision. Whether somebody did something to you or whatever, it is done. You’ve got to move forward. If you don’t move forward then you are going to spiral down into a place you shouldn’t be in, so I’ve always been a great person to look forward.”
