The singer’s single Sweet About Me came top of the list that was put together by copyright and royalty collection organisation PRS For Music.

Seven of the artists in the top 10 of the list are British – Coldplay took the second place spot with Viva La Vida and Moloko took third place with The Time Is Now.

The list was put together from the number of plays and performances that each of the songs got online as well as on TV and radio.

It covered a period of 12 months from October 2008 to September 2009.
