Dixie Chick cleared of defaming dead boy’s stepdad

Read More ]"/> A defamation lawsuit against the Dixie Chicks has been tossed out by a federal judge.

The suit was filed by the stepfather of one of three eight-year-old boys murdered in Arkansas 15 years ago. The plaintiff, Terry Hobbs, claimed lead singer Natalie Maines Pasdar accused him of being involved in the boys’ deaths.

The Dixie Chicks were among supporters of three teenagers who were convicted in the deaths of the boys and who were known as the West Memphis Three.

Hobbs alleged Maines made comments that indicted him at a rally held in Little Rock in 2007.

But US District Judge Brian Miller found the plaintiff could not establish she acted out of malice.
