David Tennant plans to move to US if new TV show takes off

Read More ]"/> Doctor Who star David Tennant has said he plans to move to the US if his new TV show takes off.

The 38-year-old will soon be seen playing the Doctor for the last time as his final scenes in the show are screened this Christmas.

He has landed the lead part in an NBC pilot Rex Is Not Your Lawyer and he said that if the show is commissioned for a full series, he may relocate to the US.

Tennant said: “It’s not a tactical move. It’s not like you sit at home thinking: ‘Next year, Hollywood!’”

The Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies and producer Julie Gardner are already in the US and he added: “I suppose it makes it feel more possible.

“It seems British actors are more and more in vogue there – look at Hugh Laurie. He’s just about as big a star as you get in the States and he’s made it in a role he would never have been given here.

“But I’m not really thinking: ‘Well, they all did it, so I’ll do it.’ There’s not great plan. You just muddle along, and if an opportunity comes up, it would be silly not to take it.”
