The 44-year-old actress said the tennis ace influenced her decision to take her career in another direction when she was aged 30.The former child star said: “He [Agassi] was the one who said, ‘You need to change it up – get an agent, maybe move to California, be serious.‘You need to figure out how to separate from your mum.’”Shields has openly admitted to having a troubled relationship with her ambitious stage mother Teri, who thrust her daughter into showbiz when she posed for her first ad aged 11 months.The Lipstick Jungle star revealed that she is now taking care of her mum – a former alcoholic – who is suffering from dementia, and said that she had shouldered the burden of her mum’s drinking for most of her life.She said: “As the classic child of an alcoholic, I was the caretaker.“For years, I’d been trying to change the situation with my mum instead of changing myself.
