Unknowns bring in the bucks at the box office

Read More ]"/> The success of unknown stars has Hollywood thinking twice about using A-list actors, according to a US report.

The buddy comedy flick The Hangover, with its cast of barely known actors, reaped a stunning $459million in global box office, for example.

The rise of TV drama, the reality television industry with its instant celebrities and unknowns-turned-celebs, and the convergence of all media is doubtless contributing.

Two other low-budget movies cited in a report include District 9, which featured space aliens and even the relatively low-budget The Twilight Saga: New Moon, were cited in a Reuters report along with the rise to stardom of the Twilight series’ Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

“Nobody says that a big wonderful movie needs to be expensive, it’s just that that’s been the trend, and perhaps the trend is misguided,” said University of Southern California cinema professor Jason Squire.
