Michael Jackson’s private funeral took place at a cost of $855,730.

A subject of controversy and much debate, the service finally took place after Jackson’s body had been interred. He was laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale on September 3, more than two months after his sudden death on June 25.

Documents that were unsealed showed the cost, which was to be borne by his estate.

The $855,730 went to Forest Lawn, while the entombing of Jackson inside the Grand Mausoleum cost $590,000, the star’s casket cost $25,000, and his burial garments came to $35,000.

A total $175,089 was spent on security, $3,682 for framing of a photograph of Jackson next to his casket, $1,975 for wardrobe costs for the family, $11,716 for invitations and programs, $16,000 for flowers and $30,000 for additional cars and security.

The service was attended by Jackson’s three children, his siblings and parents as well as such dear friends as Elizabeth Taylor and Macaulay Culkin.

Glendale Police and the city received $175,086 as part of the cost.
