Supermodel Gemma Ward quits modelling

Australian former supermodel Gemma Ward, who was romantically linked to Heath Ledger, has apparently quit modelling.

Ward, who earlier bore the brunt of scathing attacks on an international fashion website for gaining weight, has just turned 22 and celebrated her birthday in New York last week with close friend and Sports Illustrated swimwear model Jessica Gomes.

The pretty blonde, who was reportedly hard hit by Ledger's death, enjoyed a thriving international modelling career from 2004 to 2007.

She disappeared from the fashion industry after Ledger's tragic accidental death from a mix of prescription drugs in January, 2008.

Now it has been revealed her agent has no plans to book her for any future fashion or modelling shoots.

Now a spokeswoman for model agency Viviens said "Gemma hasn't committed to returning to modelling any time soon,'' she said, before adding that Ward had the agency's full support.
