The former Police star criticised the UK talent show and said it was “karaoke” and that the contestants would not become real singers.

Cowell, 50, spoke about his comments on the show and invited Sting, 58, to come on to the programme and show them how it is done.

However his spokeswoman said: “I reckon that Sting has probably said everything that he wants to say about The X Factor.”
