Snakes alive, it’s Thurman as Medusa

Read More ]"/> Uma Thurman gives a hair-raising performance as Medusa in this sneak peek at Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.

The 38-year-old Kill Bill actress plays the snake-haired deity who turns men to stone in the new fantasy film loosely based on Greek mythology.

The film has a star-studded cast featuring Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson, Pierce Brosnan as Percy’s guide to Greek mythology, Rosario Dawson as Persephone and Sean Bean as Zeus.

The film, aimed at teens, is the first film adaptation in a series of five books by author Rick Riordan.

Tellingly, it will be helmed by former Harry Potter director Chris Columbus and if successful could easily lead to sequels.

The plot centres on Percy, a direct descendent of the Greek god Poseidon who must embark on a quest across America to recover Zeus’s stolen lightning bolt and prevent a deadly war between the gods.

It opens in the US on February 10 just a matter of weeks before the March 26 release of Clash of the Titans – a remake of the 1981 classic about Perseus’ epic quest.
