Cowell, 50, is said to be in advanced talks to make a US version of the hit talent show and believes Cole, 26, is a key part in it.

A source said to UK newspaper News of the World: “Simon can’t imagine doing X Factor without Cheryl now.

“He is insisting she’ll be part of the show. And being a judge over there could raise her profile and catapult her to stardom.”

Cole once insisted that she would not work over in the US because it would take her away from her footballer hubby Ashley Cole, who plays for England.
