Williams has sworn off touring since his last major tour, which he believes drove him into the drug addiction that nearly killed him.

Warming up his vocals for a hotly anticipated performance at Sydney’s ARIA [Australian Recording Industry Association] awards on Thursday night, he said: “There’s no plans to do a tour like the last one I did. I know what happens to me and where it takes me and which rehab I end up in. I will tour again but it won’t be any time soon.”

Williams, who has taken his girlfriend Ayda Field with him, believes he has an “in-built” drug addiction. He said: “I have that mechanism inside of me that enjoys not choosing life, that has it in-built in my DNA to want to get high. I don’t think that ever leaves. I’m sure it won’t.”
