Nicolas Cage pulled out of a film screening in New York to mourn the death of his father, August.

Cage, who is embattled with financial problems, was due to appear at the screening of Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans.

Cage buried his father, who died of a heart attack at 75, in a service for family and friends at the Christ The King Church in Hollywood, California.

August, a retired literary professor at San Francisco State University, was the brother of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola.

Cage, meanwhile, was scheduled to join Val Kilmer and Eva Mendes for the November 8 screening of Bad Lieutenant.

Cage was seen ushering his wife Alice and sons Weston and Kal El in photographs that surfaced.
