Rock legend Morrissey marched off a stage after he was pelted with a plastic beer container. The singer recently collapsed on a UK stage and had to be helped off by band members to waiting paramedics.

Morrissey was performing on a Liverpool stage and had got through just two tracks from his set when he was struck by the container and marched off.

He had been kneeling at the stage's edge and greeting fans by shaking hands when the incident occurred.

He stood up, wiped his face and said goodbye before marching off. His band followed. He was on the final date of a UK tour at the Echo Arena. Fans were informed he would not be finishing the show and were offered full refunds of their tickets.

The former Smiths frontman is due in the Netherlands to start a European tour this week.
