Singer Mariah Carey is to headline a gig at Madison Square Garden on New Year's Eve.

The 40-year-old songstress will be playing at Times Square, which in recent years, played host to bands such as Phish and My Morning Jacket who jammed their way into the new year.

The Obsessed star announced the gig on her Twitter page and on her website saying: "Join Mariah as she bids farewell to 2009 in superstar style and gets ready to ring in 2010!"

Details are not yet known about any opening guests or special guests, but Mariah will be performing her new singles Obsessed and H.A.T.E.U and other tracks from Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.
