Henry Winkler will always be grateful for the Fonz

Happy Days star Henry Winkler said he will always be grateful for his role as the Fonz as it put a roof over his family’s heads.

The 64-year-old is best known for his role as the leather-jacketed character Fonzie in the Seventies show Happy Days and said he doesn’t mind if that is the only role he’s remembered for.

He said: “I get to do movies and maybe it wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t play the Fonz. He is the foundation of my professional life.

“The Fonz put my kids through school and I’m grateful for that.”
