The X-Men Origins star revealed that he curled into a ball on his bed before heading into the woods with a gun after receiving hate mail because of the incident.

He said to Piers Morgan in a new interview: “I went with an intention – I had a way out.”

He added: “That was one of the bravest times in my life.”
