Gisele Bundchen has passed her pilot's written test.

The supermodel, pregnant with her first child, has been taking helicopter lessons.

And according to her teacher, she is already well on the way to becoming fully qualified.

"Gisele hasn't finished her licence yet, but she did pass her written exam," said Keith Douglass, president of Shoreline Aviation, a company that provides private jets and aviation lessons.

"Now, there's one more step along the way, the practical exam [in the air], which is coming up in another week."

He also praised the 29-year-old's talents in the air: "[She] has been doing an excellent job.

"She's very dedicated. She flies at least three days a week. Flying a helicopter isn't easy – it's a handful, because you can't stop flying and just cruise, but she's doing great."

The Brazilian-born catwalk beauty is expecting her first child with American football star husband, Tom Brady, 32, next month.

"She's almost to a point where she's too big to be flying," Douglass added.

Gisele is said to be learning to fly because she wanted to find a way to shorten her commute between Boston, where the couple have set up home together, and New York, where many of her modelling assignments are, and where the couple also have a home.
