Read More ]"/> Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson is to take on the role of Nelson Mandela’s former wife Winnie in a new movie.

The 28-year-old beauty, who recently became a mum for the first time, will play the lead in the drama movie Winnie, which is scheduled to start shooting on May 30 in South Africa.

Filming locations will include Johannesburg, Cape Town and the Transkei and Robben Island where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of 27 years in prison.

The movie will be directed by Darrell J Roodt, the South African filmmaker who was nominated for Africa’s Best Foreign Film in 2006.
