Dannii Minogue blaming herself for ‘boring’ acts

Read More ]"/> The X Factor judge Dannii Minogue is beating herself up that her acts are “too boring”, according to the Sun newspaper.

She had put herself behind Welsh singer Lucie Jones, the act that was disqualified from the show’s contest over the weekend for a pair of Irish twins that are widely panned. She lamented: “The first thing was that I was just disappointed in myself – what didn’t I show about Lucie which left her in a position where she hadn’t got enough votes? I was angry with myself because I hadn’t done the job well enough. That performance and the one before – I felt she’d really arrived, but it was too late.”

The Sun revealed that Minogue had burst into tears after Jones, who she had mentored, was kicked off in favour of Jedward, aka John and Edward Grimes, in a vote that prompted a massive viewer backlash and complaints to television watchdog Ofcom.

Minogue railed: “What have I done wrong?”

She later revealed that she has realised her acts, Lucie, Rachel Adedeji, and Stacey Solomon are not interesting.

She said: “They are beautiful, beautiful girls but maybe that is not enough. I knew when it went to deadlock there would be trouble because John and Edward had been on the cover of all the newspapers and magazines that week.

“There was no controversy with Lucie.”

Minogue, who has a tendency to become very involved in the tribulations of contestants, had thought Jones was made in the shade. She said: “Maybe it’s not enough to be nice and beautiful and sing well and be hard-working and turn up and not cause any problems. Maybe you’re meant to cause a lot of problems and controversy and get the headlines.”
