The 74-year-old actress had been working on a Christmas special of the period drama when she lost a crown.

She did not have enough time to change from her period costume before visiting a dentist in Ealing, west London.

She said: “I went into the waiting room and everyone kept looking at me. When I got in to see the dentist, he said: ‘Are you busy working at the moment?!’

“I was wearing a full wig with curls!”
