Bruni and Connick Jr recently recorded a bossa nova cover version of the love song in Paris to accompany Connick Jr’s European album release.

The US entertainer said: “She was really impressive. I didn’t know that much about her and I told my wife and she goes: ‘Oh I know Carla,’ because they used to work together years ago and she says she’s a great singer, songwriter. She knows what she wants to do and immediately we liked each other so that made it nice. We talked about kids and stuff, she was great, I loved it.”

Of Bruni’s famous husband, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Connick Jr said: “I met him very briefly, he said hello and sort of left us to our work.”
