The 47-year-old actor voices the role of Scrooge in the new animated movie of the classic tale by Charles Dickens and stars in the film along with Bob Hoskins and Colin Firth.

Carrey will switch the lights on at Oxford Street's 50th year of Christmas lights on November 3 as Hoskins helps celebrate the launch of the new movie at St Paul's Cathedral.

The movie has been written and directed by Academy award-winner Robert Zemeckis and talking about the flick, he said: "It's so visual and cinematic. It's the greatest time travel story ever."
