Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem were spotted in the water in Bali on location for Eat, Pray, Love.

The stars picked up filming on the movie after locals in the village of Bentuyung tried to disrupt shooting in a row over pay. Officials stepped in to resolve the dispute.

Roberts has faced several challenges making the movie adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's best-selling book in Italy, India and Indonesia in recent weeks. Gilbert's story is adapted from her real-life awakening after a divorce.

The dashing Bardem plays Felipe, the man Gilbert met on her exotic travels and eventually married. Crew demands ran to $32,000 when the crew showed up a month ahead of schedule and locals claimed they were unprepared.

District chief Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati said: "There was a misunderstanding. The crew came in 20 trucks – earlier than their scheduled shooting on November 10, so the villagers were offended and blocked the roads.

"Everything is OK now. The villagers understand. Many local and international films have been shot here with no problem at all."

Roberts has been accompanied by her three young children on the movie-making trip.
