Barbie is going on a diet.

The iconic doll is shedding the pounds in a redesign being overseen by French shoemaker to the stars Christian Louboutin.

The footwear designer, whose shoes are famous for their red soles, is designing three Barbie dolls to celebrate the doll's 50th anniversary.

And he has decided to slim the doll's 'fat' legs down because he felt she had 'cankles'.

"He found her ankles were too fat," a spokesman for Louboutin revealed.
