Boyzone will never recover: Westlife singer

The members of Boyzone will never get over the sudden death of Stephen Gately, says Westlife singer Shane Filan.

Filan, a close friend of the band, said he tried to comfort Ronan Keating at Gately's funeral in Dublin.

Keating, who broke down during the service, was reported to be flying out to Los Angeles in a distraught state after the funeral to try to make sense of the loss.

Filan said: "They will probably never get over it. It's hard to put into perspective what's happened to them as a band. The lads were always looking after him like a baby brother."

Gately was just 33 when he died of a fluid build-up in his lungs, most probably the result of a rare heart condition. He was on holiday on the island of Majorca with civil spouse Andrew Cowles.

Filan added that the band's manager, Louis Walsh, will be hit hard by the death when he returns to Ireland.
